Are you among those people who feel sluggish right from the
moment you wake up in the morning? Are you among those people who reach for
that extra cup of coffee every now and then? Do you always feel bloated
throughout the day? These are some of the symptoms if you are suffering from
sugar addiction. And you are not alone. Statistics
have shown Americans have been consuming 30% more sugar than what they were
consuming 30 years ago.
Addiction to sugar is very real. You feel delighted when you
eat it and then you won't feel good and then again you will reach for more
sugar. This addiction is slowly harming your body in more ways than you know
it. The solution to this problem is to follow a sugar detox diet. You need not
be worried as this is as difficult as you think it is. This easy to follow sugar detox plan will help
you get started for a healthier living.
1. Schedule your timing - Plan your detox diet when you dont
have a busy schedule. Since headaches and dizziness are said to be common side
effects during a detox diet you need to have a relaxed schedule that you can go
through. You need not worry though as you body is preparing itself for the
detox and this is only during the initial phase.
2. Plan what to cut - For the first 3 days, skip all forms
of added sugar and carbs like grains, sauces, salad dressings, alcohol, etc. Temporarily
you should avoid fruits and dairy intake too. You might think why cut out
healthier foods? Dont worry about that as we will bring back these foods during
the 4th day. Even though these foods contain natural sugar, it will become difficult
for you to succeed during your detox period. Instead you can opt for protein
rich foods such as eggs, chicken, etc, nuts, avocados and lots of veggies.
As for a diet plan you can have eggs and avocado for
breakfast, vegetable salad, nuts and chicken for lunch and steak and broccoli
for dinner.
3. Upgrade your detox plan - Once you have successfully completed
3 days of your detox plan, you can gradually add in healthy sugar foods that
have been left out like fruits and diary. You can start with an apple or banana
and a serving of diary and slowly you can add more fruits in to your plan along
with healthy grains, wine and even dark chocolate. Following this will recalibrate your food
habits and help remove unwanted sugar from your body.
